Karin Jurick
This is my portrait of Karin Jurick, an amazing artist who inspires me. I participated in a labor of love initiated by Jill Polsby , who approached a bunch of us to do a portrait of Karin from the same reference photo. The results are here...all 118 of them. It is a group thank you to a great lady.

Fabulous work! As is everything else you have posted. I am really glad to have been introduced to your blog! I am now a fan of yours!
ReplyDeleteDude, this is one of the very best of the entire 118. There was a posting frenzy yesterday among the artists and I just hope they get a second wind in their fingers and remember that Vern didn't have his posted when the frenzy occurred and that they need to come back here and tell him what an incredible job he did capturing Karin! Your palette makes me weak in the knees and you nailed her. Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteVern, so glad your portrait popped up om my blog list! You did a fantastic job, especially with her eyes. Beautiful!

ReplyDeleteI'll echo everyone's previous post about how wonderful this is Vern. The use of those background colors was brilliant! Perfect compliment to her chestnut hair.

Outstanding, Vern! Did you know that turquoise is supposed to be the hot new color for this year? The turquoise is perfect for her rich brown hair, beautiful painting.

ReplyDeleteOh Vern, This is a great portrait of Karin.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely wonderful job!!!!!
I love it, Vern! Nice color, there wasn't much of that to work with in the photo. I'm sure Karin is pleased, it is a very good likeness.
ReplyDeleteVern, I thought you were still on your Bike Break? Your admiration for Karin shows in your painting.
ReplyDeleteLet me tell you, your last two paintings have won me over. I was on the fence as to whether or not I'd add a bicyclist image to my Japan Series and "I can see clearly now" that it's a must. They are positively charming.
This is one of my absolute favorites of the challenge, Vern. You got a terrific likeness, and your skin tones are marvelous.
ReplyDeleteGreat job, Vern! I especially like the intensity of your colors! Great resemblance!
