Merry Christmas everyone. I'm finally posting an update on my Lisbon painting. My goal was to have it done for Christmas, but that little present to myself didn't happen. (I hung it in the the entrance anyway just to see how it works, and I'm somewhat pleased). The piece is getting closer with a lot of work on the foreground and various figures, tables, chairs, etc. yet to be done. The photo is really weak, but you can get the general idea. Well everyone is coming over for dinner tonight for our traditional Christmas eve get together with family and friends, so I better get that ostrich in the oven. Hope everyone has a warm and loving Christmas.

ReplyDeleteAll the best,

Wow, Vern, looking very nice! It looks monumental! Can't wait to see the next steps. You aren't really having ostrich, are you?
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas!
Hello Vern, very nice to meet you. I appreciate your comments very much, thank you.
ReplyDeleteYou sure have given yourself a project with this one, looking very good so far, I shall watch with interest. A merry Christmas to you.
Ah, A place of Honor... what did people have to say about your latest masterpiece? It is looking great! Hope your meal and Christmas morning are filled with delight.
ReplyDeleteThanks Marilyn, I wish it were a little looser like your beautiful pieces, but it's coming.
ReplyDeletePatti, Thanks very much, but I gotta come clean, it wasn't a real ostrich, only some juiced up turkey doing it's best impersonation of one. It was mighty tasty though.
Cheers Sharon, I'm going back to your blog for the forth time and I'll post you there. You do some remarkable work.
Hi Alice, Thanks so much, we had a great evening and Christmas morning was just right. The painting was noticed and applauded with encouragement. What more can a budding artist hope for. Hope your Christmas went the same.
Hi Vern, thx for your comments and nice to "meet" you. Impressive project you've got going, it's looking great, I'll second the monumental feeling it gives. Happy new year to you. robin
ReplyDeleteIt's looking really good, Vern! Like a window into another world.
ReplyDeleteI came across your blog today and I love your work!! This painting is really a masterpiece in the works. Looking forward to seeing it when it's complete.
ReplyDeleteRobin and Georgia nice to meet you both and thanks for the comments. Happy New Year.
ReplyDeleteLeslie I'm still blown away by the portrait you did. Happy New Year to you too.
This is really coming together Vern. Great job!
ReplyDeleteAdding my voice to the chorus of adulation! And is it my imagination or did you shrink the foreground-most figure to be a little smaller? I could swear you did, or else you adusted someone near him so their sizes mesh better. Or else I'd better quit while I'm behind ;) But it all is looking GREAT!
ReplyDeleteThanks Maggie and Camille, I haven't changed the sizes of any of the figures, but I did add a couple more and started adding colour and shape.
ReplyDeleteThis is coming along mighty beautiful. Great piece !
ReplyDeleteThanks Dominique, now that my portrait challenge is finished I'm back to it.
ReplyDeleteYour painting of Lisbon is coming along beautifully! My wife and I were there early last month and fell in love with the gorgeous city - walked everywhere, had some ginginha, had some Pastel Belem custard cups at Pasteis de Belem and heard some outstanding fado.
