I've been sitting here studying the way you painted Rocky's eyes. *sigh* You're amazing Vern in so many ways!
Sheila you are way too kind. Thanks so much. You and Carrie are taking the time to put this all together, and it is my pleasure to help out if I can.
Vern, the eyes say it all and the rest is loose and painterly...great job on all the dogs!
These are absolutely beautiful! So much heart and soul. Superb!
I like the cool background you employed for the husky- I love the painterly approach! Side note: Given your address and the time of year... do you follow hockey Mr. Schwarz??? :>)
GREAT painting, Vern. You captured a wonderful expression.
Thanks Liz, these guys always seem to have a soulful look when they are at the shelter.Glad you like it Tom. Hockey is starting to heat up along with the weather. Who do you like? Thanks Ed, I was really pleased with this one.
daredevilVern I AM VERY IMPRESSED WITH YOUR ART WORK AND ENJOYED YOUR SAMPLES ON YOUR SPOT. Dodgie Dator from McGrath Diamonds says you are great as well. It realy is a challenge the way your group creates in only 1 week. Keep up the creativity and thanks for letting me see your work! - Dave Howell
Vern, what a soulful, wonderful portrait. I can see why you made it your avatar.
cool artworks...I miss painting, I wonder how Vern fit all these paintings into his schedule! nice job Vern! David Howell also a big fan!
Both Duke and Rocky are so beautiful! I really enjoy what you are doing. Hope these handsome dogs will find their forever homes very soon.
Thanks Dave, I really appreciate you visiting the blog and your kind comments. Thanks R. this is where I'm slowly headed with my painting...I think, and I want a reminder of all the shelter animals.Dodgie you are a wonderful photographer and designer. Thanks for visiting. Thanks Akiko, I love your term "forever homes". Well said.
Your animal paintings are fabulous and so is the cause. I have the best intentions but I have yet to go to my local animal shelter...and we certainly have a few. It is a great way for each of us to make a difference. Nice job.
these dogs are so gorgeous. well done.
These dog portraits are beautiful, so painterly and filled with emotion. Everything is just spot-on, color selection, loose brushstrokes in all the right places, love the orange peeking out from the cool blue background. I'm with Sheila, *sigh*.
Thanks Paula, I did these portraits off the shelter's own site. I'm going down there at the of the week or when the paint is dry. I'll snap some of my own shots then. Thanks very much Debbie and Angela. Really appreciate your comments.
I love the expression you have captured in Rocky's eyes, Vern! The tilt of the ears give him such character... really beautiful!
Thanks Joanne, good to hear from you.
Vern, you are so good at these doggie paintings!! You really caught their souls and sadness. Great work as always!
Thanks Marilyn, hopefully these guys will get adopted.
Vern, you've really got something with these dog paintings - what a great thing to do! This dog, in particular, is so plush and appealing - you really nailed the expression.
Thanks Kelley, appreciate it very much.
This is a really heartwarming portrait. I love his soulful eyes, the quick brush strokes and the red ground!
Veern, I have been away from the blog pages too long. All of these paintings are fantastic!!! What a great idea to donate paintings to the animal shelters. I think I will follow suit.
Thanks Gwen, the orange/red ground is new for me and I really liked it here.Kay great to see you back, and I think you'll have fun with it. Thanks for your comments.
Okay, Vern, I see that when you emailed me, you were being modest about your painting abilities... You rascal! This is AWESOME and I want to hug this dog right now.
Jala...Darn, that dog was me last week...ha!
